Abstract
This map includes the following key components: • operating mines – coal, metallic and mineral sand mines – major industrial mineral operations – opal and gemstone producing operations. • projects and inactive mines – inactive mines (non-operating mines that have potential for future development) – advanced projects (new projects and extensions to existing non-operating mines) – geologically significant deposits (e.g. new deposit style in a district). • significant infrastructure – roads, railways, and ports – gas pipelines and electricity transmission lines – power generation facilities producing greater than 5 MW. Coal and metallic mines are classified as operating when there has been recorded production for the 2022–23 financial year (1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023). Operating industrial mineral, mineral sands, and gemstone mines are those with recorded production in the last five years, unless otherwise stated by the operating company.
