ABSTRACT: The descriptions of geology and mineralisation in the metallogenic study were compiled from published and unpublished reports held by the Geological Survey of New South Wales, and from a number of university theses. Included within each section on mineralisation are comments on the likely origins of the various types of deposits. In fact, the primary grouping of deposits is made largely on this basis. Field work involved the inspection of a large number of the deposits. No geological mapping was carried out. The latest available geological information was incorporated in the accompanying map. It was derived from company mapping and from the detailed work of Basden et al. (in press) within the Cootamundra 1:100,000 sheet area. Where the rock types shown on the data sheet appear to contradict the geology shown on the map it can be assumed that the data sheet carries the more accurate and latest information or else refers to a local variation in rock type.
