Abstract
Detailed regional stratigraphic geology of the Narooma 1:100,000 sheet is described. Mining history of gold and phosphate deposits is given briefly. The Narooma 1:100,000 Geological Sheet covers a land area of 575 km2, the remaining 1,900 square km being over the Tasman Sea.
The Palaeozoic and Mesozoic geology of this sheet was mapped and compiled by L.E. Chalker during 1970. Her accompanying notes were subsequently updated in June 1975, prior to publication, by D.J. Pogson from additional publishes and unpublished thesis work.
The Tertiary, Quaternary, and offshore geology sections are based on field observation and on collation and interpretation of offshore data by C.S. Bembrick during the period 1968 - 1975.
