Abstract
One of the prime tasks of the Geological Survey of New South Wales is to assist in the exploration for mineral deposits in the State. The Eastern Lachlan Fold Belt Metallogenic Mapping Project was initiated in 1969 with the following aims: a. to collate information on metallic mineral occurrences in New South Wales so that metallogenic provinces and/or districts may be delineated, and to assist in the definition of potential ore bearing districts, and b. to provide a synthesis of available information so that work may proceed towards interpretation of ore genesis. The metallogenic study (second part of this book) explains aspects of the geology of the map area, and discusses mineral deposit formation in a regional sense.
