Southern Coalfield Geological Explanatory Notes (1998)

Abstract

The Southern Coalfield map and notes were compiled to supplement the Southern Coalfield Audit (Armstrong et al in prep), a study of the coal resources in the Southern Coalfield. The map is based on a compilation of existing data with supplementary in-fill mapping limited to parts of the western basin margin. Company exploration reports, mine studies, University undergraduate and post-graduate theses and Department drilling programs have provided a large volume of data that have been incorporated where relevant. Regional geology, coal geology and resources data are included.
