Abstract
Explanatory notes on the Dubbo 1:250000 map sheet area are compiled in this report. The area is located 250 km north-west of Sydney and includes the exposed north-eastern portion of the Palaeozoic Lachlan Orogen and overlying marginal areas of the Permo-Triassic Sydney-Gunnedah Basin and Jurassic Surat basin. The stratigraphic sequence of the Lachlanorogen have been deformed into meridional structural packages (fold or thrust sheets). Regional metamorphism ranges from zeolite/clay/carbonate to actinolite/biotite grade. The stratigraphy, structure, geophysics, mineralogy (mineral occurrences), palaeontology and coal measures of the area are discussed in this report.
