Abstract
The Braidwood 1:100 000 map sheet area covers a segment of the eastern Lachlan Orogen in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. These explanatory notes accompany the second edition Braidwood 1:100 000 geological map sheet (Fitzherbert et al. 2017) and follow on from the published second edition of the Goulburn 1:250 000 geological map (Thomas et al. 2013) and the acquisition of detailed airborne geophysics over the southeastern part of New South Wales. This volume provides detailed descriptions of all lithostratigraphic and plutonic units, a discussion of the structural geology and metamorphic geology and a synthesis of the geological history of the area. An interpretation of the mineral systems of the Braidwood map sheet area and the northern Araluen map sheet area is also included.
