Abstract
The Booligal 1:250000 map sheet area is flat, semi-arid and dominated by interacting Quaternary morphostratigraphic units. The study area is almost entirely covered with unconsolidated and consolidated sediments of the Murray Basin, and the basement consists for the great part of Lachlan Fold Belt rocks. The study area lies within the eastern part of the Murray Basin and consists of fluvial and possible marginal Tertiary sedimentary units deposited in an interactive setting. Sedimentary thickness vary from 20m to 200m overlying basement highs and from 200m to 410m within basement troughs.
